Hey, I'm Nico Kokonas

I specialize in web scraping, data extraction, and building distributed systems that operate at scale. This includes reverse-engineering complex JavaScript protection mechanisms, bypassing anti-automation measures, and creating pipelines that process the data. I have broad experience in backend development more broadly, and have worked with a variety of languages and frameworks including: Node/Typescript, Go, Python, C#, Postgres, SQL Server, and more. I'm constantly learning new things and enjoy working on "novel" problems.

I'm a big fan of the Unix philosophy, and believe in building small, focused tools that can be combined to solve complex problems. I also prioritize security and reliability, and always strive to build solutions that can adapt to changes. Depending on the environment, I may lean more towards a "move fast and break things" approach, or a more "sniper rifle accuracy" approach. The former is generally more appropriate when there is time pressure something tangible to the market or a deadline. The latter is more appropriate when there is time and desire to build a solution that is both reliable and scalable, future-proofed, and maintainable.

I've successfully worked with major platforms including some financial institutions, ticketing companies, lean startups, and healthcare MDM (master data management) firms. In short, I am very adaptable and can work with across a variety of companies and industries.
